Hello random internet person! I'm Pixelin, a person that likes to make
silly useless and occasionally useful things.
Things I'm doing rn + things I want to do soon are:
- Making silly games - aiming to publish one on Steam
- Practicing art & animation
-
Learning an instrument (guitar or piano) - at least good enough to
play some songs
-
Play a lot of video games (I swear I'm not procrastinating I'm just
studying game design :P)
-
Fold 1000 paper cranes (I have no senbazuru wish, I just feel like it)
- Make a lot of money yum yum
Games I like - Minecraft, Undertale, Deltarune, Oneshot, Balatro,
Stardew Valley, Rhythm Doctor, Baba is You, Hollow Knight, Omori,
Everhood
fav shows + manga + whatever - Toilet-Bound Hanako Kun, Nichijou,
Frieren, The Gaslight District, City the Animation, Mob Psycho 100,
Chainsaw Man, Bloom Into You
Favorite art tools - Adobe Animate (I used to use a
school-provided Creative Cloud subscription but now I just pirate Flash
CS6), Krita, Procreate, Aseprite, Pixelorama, FlipaClip, Tahoma2D (it's
just like OpenToonz animation software but more simplistic!)
languages I know from best to worse - Python, GDScript (Godot
language), Lua, JavaScript+TypeScript, C/C++, Vietnamese
I currently use OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux with Niri as my window
manager! Godot is my primary game engine, but I used to be a big LOVE2D
fan. I use Zed editor for general purpose coding stuff.
Other misc tools I like - AFFiNE for notes, planning, &
journaling, Todoist for task management, Zen Browser for web!
Inspirations!
-
Toby Fox: My biggest inspo for being a gamedev rn! His
IndieLiveExpo message lowk got me super into indie game development
during the pandemic.
-
Nicky Case: Biggest inspo for web development! Her interactive
sites, games, and her writing have made me more curious and invested
in learning than school has ever made me.
-
Temmie Chang: I also discovered more of her stuff during the
pandemic, but her work influenced my current chibi art style a lot!
She's a super skilled animator, and seeing her learn to make her own
games motivated me a lot too.
-
LocalThunk: Balatro is such a masterpiece game, and reading the
timeline for how it was made left me in awe! He's a humble developer
with a passion for a hobby, and reminds me of why I love game
development so much in the first place.
-
NomnomNami: I love her short and digestible games and VNs! Her
stuff influenced my art style a lot too.
-
Alan Becker: Stick figures were basically my introduction to
animation! His animation tutorials, especially his 12 principles
video, helped me a lot during my animation journey.
-
Aimkid: I used to be addicted to her animations because they
are so ridiculously smooth! I'm in love with her geometric & dynamic
art style, and I think it's influenced my art to be wackier too.
-
Cuptoast: I was addicted to her animations too. She got me into
Jack Stauber and FlipaClip and I own her hoodie. It was because of her
that I made that
Last Cup of Coffee
animation!
-
Daidus & Emirichu: Spilled Ink is my favorite art YouTube
channel right now! Seeing these two learn traditional art mediums
despite being primarily experienced in digital art made me get more
into traditional too.
...and a lot more people that I can't name from the top of my head, but
I'll add more later. There's also friends, family, teachers, etc. but I
won't name them.
